A needle of a sewing machine moves continuously up and down on a straight-line path. Hence it is in periodic motion.
If you consider upward motion of the needle for a small amount of time, it is in rectilinear motion. Similarly the downward motion for some time can be considered as rectilinear motion.
Hence it is exhibiting a combined motion: Rectilinear and periodic motion.
From this example, we can say that a body can exhibit multiple types of motion.
