The physical properties of ammonia are given below:
  • It has a very pungent odour.
  • It is a colourless gas.
  • It tastes bitter.
  • Its density is 0.75 kg/m3 which means it is lighter than air.
  • It is non-toxic in small doses but in large doses, it is toxic and might lead to organ failures.
  • It is highly soluble in water and gives an aqueous solution of ammonium hydroxide.
  • Its boiling point is - 33.5°C, thus it evaporates into a gas.
  • It is basic in nature.
Since ammonia is a colourless odourless gas and its boiling point is - 33.5°C so both the statements are incorrect.
