Only 'Statement 1' is correct.


In a plane mirror the image of an object facing the mirror turns 180 degrees on its sides to face the object. In simple words, if an object faces North and a plane mirror is kept in front of it then the image formed will face the object i.e. the image will face south. Thus the first statement is correct. Now, 'inversion' is a term that is used when the image of an object turns upside down e.g let us consider a person as an object, if in the image, the legs go up and head comes down then that we would call an inverted image. So clearly, inversion is not the case with plane mirrors.
