The hydrogen in H2O2 has +1 oxidation number
and oxygen in H2O2 has 1 oxidation number.

Therefore, the oxygen in the H2O2 reduces to 2 state which is a stable state of oxygen. As H2O2 itself gets reduced, it oxidizes the other compound and acts as strong oxidising agent.

Thus the correct answer is (B) Both Statement 1 and Statement 2 are correct, but Statement 2 is NOT the correct explanation of Statement 1.
