Thousands of copper plates and stone inscriptions have also been found within Tamilakam. Most of the inscriptions found here belong to the Chera, Chola, and Pandya rulers. These rulers used to give land grants to Brahmins. These land grants were recorded as inscriptions and kept in temples.
