NCERT refers to the National Council of Educational Research and Training. The major role of NCERT is to help the government in all matters regarding school education, that is, in policy making and implementing educational schemes. Other objectives include promoting educational research and development of innovations, to develop national curriculum, textbooks, teaching aids and teachers workbooks. In addition to this, they also provide training to teachers as well as guidance to state governments in school education. States have established their own SCERT or the State Council of Educational Research, based on the lines of NCERT.
