Solution

A molecule is formed by the chemical combination of two or more atoms.
If the same atoms combine to form a molecule, it is known as a molecule of an element. Moreover, if different atoms combine to form a molecule, it is known as a molecule of a compound.

Examples of molecules of elements are: H2, N2, etc.

Examples of molecules of compounds are: CO2, NH3, H2O, etc.

Hence, statement 1 is true but statement 2 is false.
