The outer part of the ear is shaped like a funnel which helps in collecting sound. The sound then travels down the ear canal and strikes a tightly stretched membrane known as ear drum. The ear drum further sends these vibrations to the inner ear. These are then converted to electrical signals and sent to brain for interpretation.
