Square numbers can never end with 2, 3, 7 or 8. The squares of first 10 whole numbers are the following :

The possible options for unit place is 0, 1, 4, 5, 6, 9.

On the other hand, if a number ends with 0, 1, 4, 5, 6 or 9, it may or may not be a square number.

Ex: 10 is ending with 0 but is not a square number.
