The heating effect of electric current depends on:
(i) Material of the wire: copper wire is getting less heated as compared to a nichrome wire and that is why we use nichrome wire in heating element of electric heaters.
(ii) Length of the wire: long wire will get more heated because of the fact that the longer the wire, the more will be the hindrance to the electric current passing through it.
(iii) Thickness of the wire: thick wire or wire having more cross-sectional area will make it easier for electric current to pass through it. Therefore, the thicker wire will get less heated as compared to the thinner wire.

Thus, statement 1 is correct and statement 2 is incorrect.
