In filtration process, the size of pores present in the filter medium must be bigger in size as compared to the size of solute particles. This is done so that the solute particles can easily pass from the filter medium and the mixture is seperated into its components.

The solid particles cannot be separated by filtration because the particles are very tiny and light. Filtration is used to separate the large particles from liquid. Centrifugation is the method which is used to separate very tiny and light solid particles from the liquid. Thus, statement 2 is incorrect.
