The food i.e., glucose, synthesized during photosynthesis is transported from the leaf to different parts of the plants by phloem. This transportation of food in plants is called translocation. The sugar is generally translocated from source (leaf) to sink (storage organs). However during the spring season, the food (sugar) stored in the sink is mobilised towards the buds of the plant.
