Crystalline solids are anisotropic and amorphous solids are isotropic.

The physical properties like refractive index, electrical conductance, dielectric constant etc. of crystalline solids change with the change of directions. The ability of crystalline solids to change values of physical properties when measured in different directions is called anisotropy.

In the case of amorphous solids, the value of physical properties does not change with the change of directions. The property remains the same in all the directions. It is called isotropy.
