An electrical heater produces heat when an electric current passes through its coil. So, the heater works on the principle of heating effect of electric current.

All appliances that produce heat are fitted with a heating element. Nichrome is used as a heating element inside the heaters.

The heat generation is greater for nichrome as compared to copper because the hindrance provided by nichrome to the flow of electric charges is greater as compared to copper. The more the hindrance to the flow of charges more will be the heat generation in the conductor.
Therefore, statement I is correct and statement II is incorrect.
