Statement 1 is not correct. Because, atomic radius decreases as one goes from left to right of a periodic table. As the atomic number increases, the number of electrons as well as protons both increases. The nuclear force of attraction on the outer electrons also increases rapidly and hence the atomic radius of the element decreases.
