The correct option is A Both the statements are true and statement-II is the correct explanation of
statement-I.
Assertion is correct ,reason is also correct because -C=O bond is highly polarized due to large difference in electronegativity of O and C so the C of -C=O group is electron deficient and the reaction is initiated by the attack of nucleophile on this carbon.
