Solution

The correct option is D Both statements I and II are incorrect
The Human Genome Project was a 13-year-old project which started in 1990 and was completed in 2003.

The Human Genome Project aims at finding out the sequence of the entire genome which involves sequencing of all the chromosomes present in the human genome (22 autosomes, X chromosome and Y chromosome).

HGP successfully determined the sequence of the entire human genome which has 3164.7 million base pairs (approximately 3 billion chemical base pairs).

Thus, both statements I and II are incorrect.
