The correct option is A Statement I is correct but statement II is incorrect.

Mercury is liquid at room temperature and its boiling point is quite high. Its high boiling point gives us the advantage of measuring high temperatures.
Alcohol has a lower boiling point and it evaporates at high temperatures. Also it's expansion is not uniform like mercury at high temperature.
It can measure low temperatures more accurately because its per degree expansion is more than mercury.
Hence, statement I is correct but statement II is incorrect.
