The maximum (highest) and minimum (lowest) temperatures of a day are measured by a thermometer called the Six’s maximum-minimum thermometer.
On the other hand, a clinical thermometer is designed to measure the temperature of the human body only, which varies from 35 oC to 42 oC only. A clinical thermometer gives the temperature when it is in contact with the body. It can’t be used to measure the temperature of the air.
