y=-x22+x+1

We can write the given equation as,

y=-x22+x+1⇒y=-x2+2x+22⇒2y=-x2+2x+2⇒x2-2x-2=-2y⇒x2-2x-3+1=-2y∵-3+1=-2⇒x2-2x+1=-2y+3⇒x2-x-x+1=-2y-32⇒xx-1-xx-1=-2y-32⇒x-1x-1=-2y-32⇒x-12=-2y-32

Clearly, this is a parabola with the axis

x-1=0x=1

Hence given curve is symmetric about x-axis
