Option A is the correct answer.
Fluorine atom has 9 electrons in its orbit which can be written as (2,7). When it is converted to a Fluoride ion its electronic configuration can be written as (2,8). As the number of electrons in its outermost orbit is increased, the nuclear force of attraction on each electron is thus decreased. Thus the radius of Fluoride ion is larger than the Fluorine atom. In general, anions have a larger radius than their corresponding atoms.
Fluorine atom can be converted to Fluoride ion by increasing its number of electrons by one. Thus Fluoride ion has 9 electrons and 9 protons.
Hence statement 1 is true but statement 2 is false.
