When we burn a candle, wax melts and hence the physical state of wax changes from solid to liquid. Thus, it is a physical change.
As the wick containg wax burns to produce flame, it combines with the atmospheric oxygen and changes to carbon dioxide, heat and light. Thus, it undergoes a chemical change. Hence, both the statements are correct.
