Stem branching is of two types, lateral branching and dichotomous branching. Lateral branching is of two types, racemose branching and cymose branching. In cymose branching, the main axis terminates into a flower and before it terminates it gives off lateral branches. In racemose branching, the main axis grows for indefinite period and it continuously produces lateral branches in an acropetal order.
