1. With radius more than half of XY and X as centre draw an arc above AB
2. Using a scale and a pencil, join PQ. Now PQ is perpendicular to AB.
3. Draw a straight line AB and mark point P on it
4. With P as the centre, draw two arcs with a suitable radius which cut AB at X and Y such that P lies in between X and Y
5. Draw another arc that cuts the previous arc with centre at Y and with same radius as in previous step. Name the point of intersection as Q.
