Open in App
Solution

Government introduced the "Prevention of Food Adulteration Act" in 1954 which came into effect from 19 June 1955. According to this act rules have been amended several times and quality standards for about 250 articles which are commonly consumed in India have been fixed. The implementation of these laws is the responsibility of the local authorities. They appoint a food inspector who provides license to the food authorities after checking the food quality.
