Steve is planning to bake 3 loaves of bread. Each loaf calls for 514 cups of flour. He knows he has 20 cups on hand . Will he have enough flour left for a cake recipe that requires 334 cups?

Let us change the mixed fractions to improper fractions to ease our calculations.

So,514=20+14=214

Similarily, 334=12+34=154

Now, Cups of flour required for 3 loaves of bread =3×214=634 cups

Flour left with Steve =20634=174 cups

Flour required for cake recipe =154 cups

Hence, he will have enough flour for cake recipe.
