Sticky film of saliva, food particles and bacteria is called plaque. Bacteria present in the plaque can only affect the teeth.
False
Plaque is responsible for the yellowing of the teeth. Bacteria present in the plaque convert the sugar in food into acid which dissolves away the enamel of the tooth. With time, a hole or a cavity is formed in the tooth. Plaque also affects the gums by building up in the regions between the teeth and the gums forming gaps. If left untreated, the bacteria growing here will eventually cause the tooth to fall off.
