Solution

(1) Breathing is a physical process in which the gaseous exchange takes place in and out of the body. So, this process cannot provide the energy until the oxidation of food takes place through cellular respiration.
(2) The body needs continuous supply of energy to perform the metabolic processes and the physical activities of day to day life. The energy is provided when the food we eat gets utilised in the body. We do not need continuous supply of food as our body needs time to digest the food. If we would eat food continuously then digestion of food would not occur properly and the body would not be able to utilise the nutrients from the food to provide energy.
