Question

A light ray incident on a plane mirror gets reflected from it. Another plane mirror is placed such that the reflected ray from the first mirror is incident from it. If the reflected ray from the second mirror travels perpendicular to the incident ray on the first mirror, determine the angle between the two plane mirrors. Kindly do not give any link or hint for the above question.

Solution

Dearstudenst,
On plane mirror angle of incident = angle of refection.
We get a triangle between two inclined plane mirrors.
i1 = r1 and i2 = r2
we can say 2 i1 + 2i2 = 180-90
As reflected ray from second mirror incident on first perpendicularly.
so 2 i1 + 2i2 = 90
of i1 + i2 = 45
sum of angle of incident and angle of reflection will be 45.
bothe plane mirror will be inclined at 45 degrees.
