Solution

Dear Student,

Electronic configuration of Cr should be = [Ar] 3d4 4s2Electronic configuration of Cu should be =[Ar] 3d9 4s2However, there actual configuration is Electronic configuration of Cr should be = [Ar] 3d5 4s1Electronic configuration of Cu should be =[Ar] 3d10 4s1This is in order to obtain stable electronic configuration. In such way, Cr attains half filled 3d and Cu obtains full filled 3d configuration which makes the electronic configuration more stable. Hence, Cr and Cu show anomalous electronic configuration.
