How does the oxidation number of oxygen changes in different cases? Why does this happen?Give reason for each case.

Oxygen exist in three different form.
Oxides - O2-. So the oxidation state is -2. Peroxides - O22-. So the oxidation state of oxygen = -1 (2x=-2 : x= -1)Superoxide- O2-. So the oxidation state of oxygen = -0.5 (2x=-1: x= -0.5)For ex., Li2O - Oxide. (oxidation state = -2)Na2O2 -Peroxides (oxidation state = -1)KO2 - Superoxide (oxidation state = -0.5)
