Q. Consider the reaction

CH4g+H2Og COg+3H2g+ heat

Indicate the direction in which the equilibrium will shift when
(i) temperature is increased
(ii) pressure is increased
(iii) using a catalyst
(iv) concentration of CO is increased.

Dear student,
This will follow Le Chatelier Principle :-
i) The reaction will move backward i.e. towards reactant.
ii) The reaction will move towards lesser no. of moles of gas i.e. backward
iii) It will increase the rate of reaction of both forward as well as backward.
iv) If concentration of CO is increased the reaction will move backward i,e, towards reactant.
