Compounds with identical molecular formula but different structures are called structural isomers.
For a hydrocarbon to form a branched compound, a minimum of four carbon atoms are required.
In the case of a compound with three carbon atoms, the structure will be CH3CH2CH3.
If you remove one of the carbon atoms and place it on the second carbon, the parent chain will still be the same.

n-butane (C4H10) and iso-butane(C4H10) are structural isomers with same molecular formula but different structural formula.
