Let x be the number of fruit trees.
Number of non-fruit trees = 1+2x
Total number of trees = number of fruit trees + number of non-fruit trees
100=x+(1+2x)
100=x+2x+1 [Using commutative property]
100=3x+1
1001=3x+11 [Subtracting both sides by 1]
99=3x
993=3x3 [Dividing both sides by 3]
x=33
Number of fruit trees = 33
Number of non-fruit trees =1+2x
=1+2×33
