Organism | In the hills | In the desert | In the river | In the sea: |
Plants | In hills, plants are cone-shaped and leaves are small and needle-like whereas, stems are sloppy which helps to slide snowfall and rainfall easily. Eg. pine, fir etc. | In the deserts, plants are small and bushy, or spiny and roots penetrate deep into the soil for better water absorption. Eg. cactus | Plants that can grow in aquatic habitats like rivers are called Aquatic plants. Aquatic plants may be free-floating, partially submerged or fully submerged. Eg. Hydrilla | Sea has abundant diversity of plants that grow in the deep sea bed. Eg. Rhizophora, Avicennia etc. |
Soil | Soil is moist, and possesses abundant nutrients. | Soil is sandy and has very less moisture. | Soil present in the river is wet. | Soil of the sea is acidic and wet. |
Rocks | Rocks are present in hilly areas. Rocks are the large mass of stone formed by the breakdown of large mountains. | Small rocks may be present in some deserts. | Generally, rocks are absent in rivers. | Rocks are also present in the sea. |
