Pancreas contains both endocrine and exocrine cells and so it is called as a heterocrine gland. The endocrine part of the pancreas is made up of cells known as the islets of Langerhans which is consists of alpha and beta cells. The alpha cells of the pancreas release glucagon that increases the blood sugar level and beta cells the pancreas release insulin that is said to reduce the blood sugar level
