(b) 37.95 lakh


In 1996, profit by company B =

[Incomeexpenditure/expenditure]×100Or 35=[Income12/12]×100

Or, (income – 12) = 12 x 35/100

Or, income = 16.2 lakh

Similarly, income in 1997 = 14.5 x 1.5 = 21.75 lakh.

Therefore, total income of 1996 and 1997 together = (16.2 + 21.75) lakh = 37.95 lakh
