Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) was implemented 2014-15 under the National Mission on Agricultural Extension and Technology.
The Mission objectives are as follows:
(i) Increasing the reach of farm mechanisation to small and marginal farmers and in the regions where the availability of farm power is low;
(ii) Promoting ‘Custom Hiring Centres’ to o􀃗set the adverse economies of scale arising due to small landholding and high cost of individual ownership;'
