Question

Substance A when dissolved in solvent B shows molecular mass corresponding to A3.Calculate the vant Hoff factor?

Open in App
Solution

1. Formula for vant Hoff factor:

i = normal molecular weightobserved molecular weight

2. Let normal molecular weight of A be x g/mol

So observed molecular weight becomes 3x g/mol as molecule of A becomes A3.

3. So, i = x3x=13
