$(5 y - 3 x^{2} + x y) - (3 x^{2} - 5 y - 2)$

$= 5 y - 3 x^{2} + x y - 3 x^{2} + 5 y + 2$

$= - 3 x^{2} - 3 x^{2} + 5 y + 5 y + x y + 2$

$= - 6 x^{2} + 10 y + x y + 2$

Putting x = 2 and y = -1, we get

$- 6 (2)^{2} + 10 (- 1) + (2) (- 1) + 2$

$= - 6 \times 4 - 10 - 2 + 2$

= -24 – 10 – 2 + 2

= -34
