Since the additive inverse of (–9) is +9, the expression can be written as 16 + 9.
As both the numbers have the same signs, we have:
16 + 9 = 25
The magnitude 16 is bigger than 9. So, we will give 25 the sign of +16, i.e., the positive sign.
∴ 16 – (–9) = +25
