Subtract -8 from -15.

Open in App
Solution

Find the value of (-15)-(-8):

To subtract an integer b from another integer a, we add the additive inverse of b to a.

So, a-b=a+(-b)

The additive inverse of -8 is 8.

So, (-15)-(-8)=(-15)+8

To add a negative and a positive integer, we subtract the absolute values of both integers and put the sign of the number with a greater absolute value to the result

So, (-15)+8 =-7

Hence, if we subtract -8 from -15, we will get -7.
