Subtract by horizontal method : (2a+3b)from (5a-7b)

To subtract an algebraic expression form another , add the negative of the first expression to the second . In other words , change the sign of each of the terms of the first expression and proceed as you would in the case of addition.

=(5a-7b)-(2a+3b)=(5a-7b)+(-2a-3b)=5a-7b-2a-3b=5a-2a-7b-3b=3a-10b

Hence 3a-10bis the difference between the given algebraic expressions
