Open in App
Solution

Step 1 : Write the subtrahend ( I.e., the algebraic expression to be subtracted)

Below the minuend ( I.e., the expression from which the subtrahend is to be subtracted ) such that the like terms are in the same column.

x2-x+1-5x2+2x+1

Step 2 : Change the sign of each term of subtrahend .

x2-x+1-5x2+2x+1+--____________________

Step 3 : Add the two algebraic expressions.

x2-x+1-5x2+2x+1+--____________________6x2-3x+0

Hence , 6x2-3x is the difference between the given algebraic expressions.
