Solution

Copper is more reactive than silver because copper is at the top in the metal reactivity series than silver. Hence, displacement reaction occurs and silver is displaced by copper ion.

When copper coin is dipped in silver nitrate solution, copper nitrate and silver metal are formed. A shining white deposit of silver metal is formed on copper coin. Hence, Sudha saw a silver shine on the copper coin.

Balanced equation:

2AgNO3(ag) + Cu(s) → Cu(NO3)2(ag) + 2Ag(s)
