Solution

A pentose sugar is a monosaccharide that contains five carbon atoms in its chain. These are of two types aldopentoses (containing aldehyde as functional group) and ketopentoses (containing ketone as functional group)

In DNA, deoxyribose sugar is present. A deoxyribose sugar is a ribose sugar with a missing oxygen atom. In DNA oxygen atom is missing at the second carbon of ribose sugar.
