Solution

ART stands for assisted reproductive techniques. These are used to treat infertility.
When a couple cannot conceive even after 6 months of unprotected intercourse the condition is known as infertility.
There are various techniques that can be done to treat infertility, some of them are-
artificial insemination, GIFT, ZIFT, IVF, ICSI, surrogacy and ovulation induction.
When a female has a blockage in her fallopian tube, the normal egg cannot reach the uterus, in such conditions ART is necessary.
In Vitro Fertilization is done in case of such patients where the eggs from the female are taken and fused with the sperm from the donor/husband.
When the sperm count of the male is less then it is known is oligospermia and for this ICSI is used in where the sperm is individually injected into the egg for fertilization.
