Solution

Sublimation :

  • It is a process by which a solid transforms directly into gas or it is the passage or conversion that substances undergo when passing from one state to another, from a solid substance to gas.

Separation of Potassium chloride KCl and Ammonium chloride NH4Cl:

  • These two are separated by the sublimation method.
  • Since Ammonium chloride being a sublimate, sublimes leave behind the Potassium chloride
  • Potassium chloride being less sublimate in nature sublimates at a lesser rate.

Hence through sublimation, Potassium chloride and Ammonium chloride are separated.
