Solution

Answer:

Separation of mixtures:

  • The process of separation of different constituents of a mixture using physical methods is known as the separation of mixtures.

The separation of the mixture of MercuryHg and WaterH2O:

  • Using a separating funnel we can separate the mixture of Mercury and Water.
  • Because Mercury and water are immiscible liquids with different densities.
  • Since Mercury is denser than water, it will settle down at the bottom of the separating funnel.
  • While water is lighter than Mercury will create a layer on it.
  • Then both layers of liquids get collected in different containers.

Conclusion:
Therefore, using a separating funnel we can separate the mixture of MercuryHg and WaterH2O.
