Question

Suggest some precautions to be taken to prevent the roof of a tin sheet from flying away during a fierce wind storm

Open in App
Solution

Wind storms:

  1. Winds that are powerful enough to cause at least light damage to buildings and trees are called wind storms.
  2. They may or may not be followed by heavy rains and thunderstorms.
  3. A fierce wind storm can do heavy damage like physical destruction, injuries, and even loss of life.
  4. It can easily sway a roof made of tin sheets.

Precautions that can be taken are:

  1. Screw the roof tightly. So that the tin sheet stays attached.
  2. Attach heavy materials to the edges of the roof. Also, heavy materials could be kept on the roof. This will make the roof immobile even during windstorms.
  3. The edges of the roof can be sharpened. This will cut the flow of wind through it.
